ELDER FAMILY CEMETERY
north of road leading from Mt. St. Mary’s to Four Points. It is about ˝ mile
from Rt. 15. Enclosed by wire fence. (Copied 3 JA 1956)
A marker reads “Nearby was erected by William ELDER Senior, the first altar
to the living God in what is now known as Mount St. Mary’s, Emmitsburg and
Mechanicstown congregations about the year 1745. This stone was erected by
his descendants after his death.”
